AASHTO T 176 – Standard Method of Test for Plastic Fines in Graded Aggregates and Soils by Use of the Sand Equivalent Test

AASHTO T 176-17 (2021) is intended to serve as a rapid test to show the relative proportions of fine dust or claylike material in soils or graded aggregates. 

The following applies to all specified limits in this standard: For the purpose of determining conformance with these specifications, an observed value or a calculated value shall be rounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last right-hand place of figures used in expressing the limiting value, in accordance with E 29, Using Significant Digits in Test Data to Determine Conformance with Specifications
